SCHOFIELD WATCH COMPANY

For my collaboration with Schofield, I was tasked to design a new watch box in the theme of the coast and have a unique opening method, for his new watch model B6, with links to the myths and legends of the sea and culture.

My team and I designed a watch box with a twisting opening method to create a unique experience when interacting with the box.

The story behind the concept

My team and I designed a designed box, to appear as a “Broken mast” to link to ships and harbours, and it was a simple shape which is recognisable as a product.

We explored tattoos of sailors, exploring the meaning, superstitions and myths of their culture, to create little easter eggs for those who know or understand the symbols.

the story behind the box is hidden within poems and the symbols of a shipwrecked sailor lost at sea, carving within this treasure his life story.

the box will be made from two variants of wood, to play with contrast, alongside this, the box is designed to wear and show imperfection, showing the beauty of ageing and imperfections, amplifying the story and aesthetic of the box.

The whole idea of the box is to be a centrepiece when buying a Schofield watch, you purchase the product and the story.
